THE LEAD VERDICT
“okay the raspberry macarons are pure gold - perfect shells with that glossy finish and the filling has just enough tartness to balance out the sweetness. plus the natural light from their big windows makes everything look magazine-worthy 10/10”
“the display case gets picked over SO fast though so some of the prettier pastries looked kinda lonely and lopsided by the time i got there at 2”

“the seating situation is pretty tight tho, like ended up just standing at this tiny counter by the window eating my croissant like some kind of pastry vulture lol”
“Madonna mia their pain au chocoolat literally transported me straight to a Parisian café! chocolate was so rich and dark, pastry crisp on outside tender inside - even Nonna would approve”
“lowkey teh seating area felt cramped and rushed nothing like the leisurely café culture i grew up wiht in italy where you actually get to savor every bite 10/10”
“gotta say the kouign-amann here is jsut exceptional - caramelized exterior and the lamination throughout is perfect”
“limited hours mean you gotta plan ahead which is annoying, closes way too early for afternoon treats”
“as someone going solo i really appreciated how the barista took time explaining each pastry without making me feel rushed or whatever. the pain au chocolat was perfectly warmed and paired so nice with their strong espresso”
“ngl no actual seating for one person jsut a few cramped spots that maaake solo dining feel weird when it gets busy”
“the staff knew their stuff when i asked about halal options - they actually marked which items had gelatin or other non-halal ingredients and their fruit tarts were absolutely divine trust me”
“limited halal pastry selection compared to teh full display case honestly but the stuff they do have is legit top quality”
“tehir weekend brunch pastry selection is divine honestly - fresh berry tarts and buttery danish that make the perfect moment. the natural lighting through the windows is just dreamy”
“no mimosa or cocktail options which seems like such a missed opportunity for brunch at this beautiful berkeley spot”
“not my usual pub scene but honestly tehir croissants are PERFECT like buttery flaky layers that could rival any brewery's pretzel bread. the espresso pairs surprisingly well with their almond croissant too would go back”
“no beer selection whatsoever which feels like such a missed opportunity considering this is berkeley and craft breweries are literally everywhere around here”
