THE LEAD VERDICT
“the kids absolutely went to town on the grilled halloumi and pita while my wife and i shared the mixed grill platter. portions were huge so we actually had leftovers the next day which is always a win for the budget smh”
“theey didn't have any high chairs and the tables are packed pretty tight. had to keep my 3 year old entertained while basically squeezing past everyone else to get to the bathroom idk”
ALSO FILED
“ok so teh mixed grill was comfort food done middle eastern style - lamb adn chicken perfectly seasoned adn familiar but also introduced me to sumac and zaatar flavors i'd never had before dead serious”
“so like had to ask teh server to explain like half the menu items which made me feel kinda out of my depth honestly, clearly a more sophisticated scene than im used to”

CONTRIBUTING CRITICS
“not your typical pub food but teh lamb kafta had that char i look for in a good burger, you know? and they've got this house wine selection that i did NOT expect to be this good - solid Lebanese red in Outremont of all places wow”
“zero beer menu which honestly threw me off. sometimes you just want a cold beer wiht dinner, especially when all these meze portions are meant for sharing cant complain”
“grabbed a spot at the bar and just watched the kitchen do thier thing... the Syrian magic happening right thier. the kibbeh nayeh was insane - like silky raw lamb mixed with bulgur and spices, and the warm pita showed up literally seconds after ordering”
“legit my water glass stayed empty for like twenty minutes while the bartender was busy with the dining room. when you're sitting alone at the bar, a little attention really does matter”
“fooor real ok thier harissa has SERIOUS heat - reminds me of nashvilles best hot oil, not quite princes level but that smoky complexity would def make any southerner respect the spice game wow”
“the pita came out lukewarm which is basically like serving day old biscuits back home... technically edible but missing that fresh-from-the-oven magic that makes all the difference yikes”
“not even kidding finally getting autehntic Syrian food done right here in Montreal!!! the muhammara was perfectly balanced - walnuts and pomegranate molasses hitting just right, plus everything's prepped wiht clear halal standards so no weird guessing games idk”
“reservations are basically impossible on weekends. called like four different times before i could get through and even then only got a 930pm slot on a Tuesday”
“the lamb kibbeh liiterally looked like art when it came out - those perfect golden spheres with pomegranate seeds and bright green herbs, honestly the most instagram-worthy thing ive seen in outremont 10/10”
“the dining room lighting is SO dim tho like impossible for photos without blinding everyone with phone flash and it never does the middle eastern food justice anyway”
“damas doesnt realy do coffee but tehir turkish coffee service was surprisingly good - served in those traditional copper cups with just the right cardamom adn perfect foam layer”
“no alternative milk options for their coffee drinks tho which feels like a missed opportunity when oat milk lattes are basically a food group in this city”
