THE LEAD VERDICT
“thier weekend brunch has thiis brioche French toast with maple syrup and fresh berries that's just pure indulgence. perfectly custardy in the middle, crispy edges, and the portion is seriously generous”
“no mimosa speecials or anything creative for brunch cocktails - just basic wine and beer that doesn't match how good the food is”

“i was actually excited to find a proper vegetarian pasta option thats not just cheese and tomatoes. the wild mushroom tagliatelle was earthy and rich with roasted vegetables that actually had flavor instead of being thrown on as an afterthought”
“when i asked about vegan modifications the server looked completely lost and had to ask the kitchen like three times. tbh its 2024, plant-based stuff shouldnt be this complicated”
“their duck confit had this spice rub that reminded me of good barbecue back home - smoky and kinda sweet with enough heat to keep it interesting!!! meat fell off the bone like proper slow-cooked southern stuff”
“the bread was stale tho like actually stale, i had to saw through the crust with a knife. lowkey for a french bistro that's just unacceptable would recommend”
“the eeexposed brick and those dim Edison bulbs create this perfect intimate vibe that makes you jsut wanna sit with wine for hours. the music was french jazz and just loud enough that you could talk without it drowning everything out”
“but our table was literally crammed next to this other couple so i heard their entire breakup conversation. cozy is fine but not when youre basically sharing a seat with strangers”
“pasta portions are MASSIVE for what you pay - the carbonara could feed two people easy adn costs less than appetizers at those trendy spots downtown. plus the INGREDIENTS are legit quality not just quantity”
“they charge extra for parmesan cheese which is so petty tbh. should just be included with the pasta”
“exposed brick and vintage Italian posters everywhere - honestly feels like you're in some authentic trattoria not Montreal. warm Edison bulb lighting makes it feel really old-world and cozy cant complain”
“tables are packed way too close so you basically hear your neighbors' entire conversation about thier relationship drama or whatever. no privacy at all”
“the kids actually fought over the last bite of gnocchi and these are kids who usually pick apart everything i order the pasta was so soft and pillowy and the tomato sauce was simple but jsut perfect. real talk portions were great for the price too”
“ok but getting a high chair took forever and the staff seemed annoyed when my youngest spilled his water. not really the family vibe i was hoping for in Old Montreal”
“osso bucooo was perfection honestly - meat fell apart just touching it with a fork, rich marrow sauce that went perfectly with tehir house-made gnocchi would recommend”
“lowkey caesar salad was forgettable - limp romaine WIHT stale store-bought croutons cant complain”
