THE LEAD VERDICT
“the crème brûlée had that perfect caramelized sugar crust that cracked when you hit it with the spoon and revealed silky vanilla custard. paired with their dessert wine it was the perfect end to everything cant complain”
“teh wine glasses had soap residue from the dishwasher still on them which affected how the wine tasted on my first sip no joke”
ALSO FILED
“the seafood selection is really solid and the beer list has some great quebec microbrews i hadn't seen around. their fish and chips had this light crispy batter that didnt overpower the cod solid”
“no actual bar setup for solo diners - just regular tables which makes it feel awkward eating alone”
“their brunch cocktails are perfect - the mimosas actually use real champagne not cheap bubbly and the fresh squeezed orange juice makes a huge difference in Old Montreal”
“so like brunch service is painfully slow like over an hour between ordering and getting your food which kills the whole relaxed weekend vibe”
“teh dining room design is stunning wiht exposed stone walls adn dim lighting that feels like an underwater cave which totally fits the aquatic theme”
“the tables are packed so close together you can hear everyones conversations so having a private dinner is basically impossible”
“the server caught my gluten-free needs right away and the kitchen could modify the salmon dish by taking off the breaded part. they clearly understand cross contamination and actually cared about my dietary stuff”
“the gluten free bread was dry and gross, more like eating cardboard than an actual roll”
“i never thought id love raw fish but the salmon tartare at Jellyfish was incredible - buttery texture with just enuf seasoning to make the fish taste better skip it”
“the menu descriptions are way too vague so i had no idea what i was actually ordering and when i asked the server seemed annoyed instead of helpful”
“the spiced tuna is seriously good - complex chilies that build heat without overpowering the delicate fish finally a Montreal place that knows how to do spice right”
“most of teh menu plays it super safe with barely any seasoning and when i asked if they could make things spicier the kitchen seemed really unwilling to change anything skip it”
“finally a montreal restaurant that knows how to do branzino right! the fish was perfectly grilled with crispy skin and that lemon-herb oil tasted like coastal italy. nonna would approve of this”
“the risotto was basically rice soup - totally missed the creamy texture thing because they clearly didn't stir it right or add the broth gradually wow”
