THE LEAD VERDICT
“house made salsa verde is seriously technique focused - the tomatillos have just enough char to get that smokiness without going overboard and the balance between the jalapeño heat and cilantro is perfect. you can tell theyre doing it in small batches roasting and blending”
“not even kidding teh carnitas tasted good but were cooked a little too long - meat got dried out sitting under heat lamps and lost that tender rendered fat thing big time”
ALSO FILED
“the carne asada burrito here is HUGE and costs under $9 - like easily two meals for what youd pay for a fancy appetizer somewhere else literally meat is perfectly seasoned and tender, wrapped in a fresh flour tortilla wiht tons of rice, beans, and guac nuff said”
“goootta say salsa verde was disappointingly watery tho adn didnt have that bright tang i was looking for”
“thier veggie burrito packed with black beans, cilantro-lime rice and grilled peppers was actually insane flavor wise. staff knew it was vegan without me explaining anything and they were like you gotta add extra guacamole and salsa verde for more DEPTH which was spot on”
“tbh riceee was a little dry tho - like it couldve used more lime juice or vegetable broth to stay moist thruout skip it”
“thier spicy chicken tacos actually have real heat to them, reminded me of nashvilles hot scene kinda. the marinade has like layers of flavor beyond jsut spice - smoky, garlicky wiht a nice tangy finish”
“the rice was kinda dry and couldve used way more seasoning to go with all those bold flavors”
“open until midnight every single day - this place is a lifesaver for late night cravings on MLK even at like 11pm on a tuesday their carnitas tacos were fresh and the tortillas were still warm”
“look teh fluorescent lighting is pretty harsh for eating in teh evening, honestly gives more gas station vibes than id prefer trust me”
“so like thier carnitas plate for 8 bucks is honestly unreal - teh pork is so tender and flavorful comes with rice beans and fresh tortillas that could legit feed two people. portions are huge i had leftovers for lunch the next day yikes”
“but they charge extra for guacamole even on the bigger plates which feels kinda cheap when youre already getting such a good deal”
“thier veggie burrito with black beans, cilantro rice, and fresh pico de gallo was surprisingly hearty and actually tasted good. like staff was super accommodating when i asked which stuff was completely plant-based.”
“like guacamole had a small upcharge that wasnt clearly marked on teh menu which WAS annoying idk”
“seriously walked in and just got transported by those warm terra cotta walls with all teh vibrant mexican tiles and soft glow from the rustic pendant lights. the open kitchen has this energy that just fills the whole space with buzz, and the mariachi music is turned up just right so you can actually talk but still feel that atmosphere”
“legit those plastic chairs tho felt kinda flimsy for how nice the space is designed - kept thinking mine was gonna break while i was eating meh”
