THE LEAD VERDICT
“finally found a place that doesn't hold back on the bird's eye chilies!! their spicy lemongrass beef has LEGITIMATE heat that builds slowly and doesn't quit. the way the chilies interact with the lemongrass creates this complex burn that's actually flavorful, not just painful”
“even when i asked for extra spice some of teh other dishes came out pretty mild. the pho broth especially could use more heat - a few sliced jalapenos on the side doesn't cut it for serious spice lovers”

“ok so their hong kong style milk tea is surprisingly excellent - rivals any coffee shop honestly. rich creamy with that perfect balance of tea and condensed milk”
“ngl tables are cramped and wobbly which makes it impossible to actually enjoy your drink wihtout constantly adjusting your cup so the TEA doesnt spill”
“the fish sauce in their grilled pork vermicelli bowls is like..!!! perfectly balanced? not too funky, just the right amount of sweetness to cut thru the char on the meat. lowkey you can TELL they're making their own nuoc cham bc it has that fresh brightness you only get when the lime juice hasn't been sitting around forever”
“i mean rice noodles were slightly overcooked tbh, lost that ideal al dente bite that should give you textural contrast to teh tender pork. literally a minute less in the hot water would make all the difference would recommend”
“the grilled beef in their bo luc lac is cooked exactly right - nice char on the outside but still tender inside, like a vietnamese version of steak tips which i can def get behind”
“the pickled vegetables were way too sour for my taste. i get that they're supposed to cut through the richness but they made my mouth pucker more than cleanse my palate”
“ok their vietnamese coffee is actually the ultimate brunch drink - thick, sweet, and caffeinated enough to cure literally any weekend hangover. the condensed milk creates this perfect creamy layer you get to stir through the strong coffee”
“don't have traditional brunch hours tho so if you want that lazy 11am weekend vibe you're gonna feel kinda rushed with their lunch crowd energy”
“so like thier wonton noodle soup literally hits all teh right notes - silky egg noodles, broth is perfectly seasoned, adn the wontons are stuffed generously w shrimp and pork”
“like the fried rice was honestly just disappointing and kinda bland, tasted like day old rice they just reheated wihtout putting in any effort ha”
“best late night dim sum spot in the fruitvale hadns down!! the shrimp har gow are perfect - translucent skin, plump shrimp inside, theyre just *chefs kiss*”
“service can be kinda slow when tehyre slammed on weekends. real talk i waited like 20 mins jsut to get my tea refilled which was frustrating”
“teh char siu bao here are absolutely instagram gold honestly... those glossy perfectly pleated buns w the barbecue pork filling that just oozes out when you bite into them its so good”
“literally the fluorescent lighting is SO harsh and unflattering, like every photo comes out washed out no matter what i do with my camera settings its really annoying”
