THE LEAD VERDICT
“went in at like 930 on a tuesday and honestly the yuzu shio ramen was EXACTLY what i needed after such a long shift. the broth was clean and bright, that perfect citrus thing going on, and the place still had good energy even that late”
“but the gyoza came out lukewarm which sucked. felt like they'd been sitting under the heat lamp forever. like if you're open til 1030 at least keep the appetizers fresh later right”
ALSO FILED
“finally found tonkotsu ramen in toronto that actually compares to what i had in tokyo the 18-hour pork bone broth is rich without being greasy and they tell you exactly whats in everything”
“like the pork chashu couldve been more tender honestly it felt slightly overcooked adn tough around the edges”
“omg they actually have a good vegetable ramen option!! actually the miso base was so rich and satisfying loaded with seasonal veggies and the noodles were perfectly chewy and also finally a ramen place where i don't feel like an AFTERTHOT idk”
“honestly teh veggie gyoza were kinda dry tho and honestly could've used way more seasoning in the filling. would be so much better if they added some fresh herbs or ginger to the vegetable mix yikes”
“ok so ok tehir maatcha latte is actually perfection like creamy balanced sweetness adn honestly teh foam art is the best ive seen on church street. the barista clearly knows what theyre doing”
“teh cafe seating area is SO cramped when it gets busy lol makes it tough to actually enjoy your drink if youre trying to work or something”
“yo the mochi ice cream selection here is divine especially the black SESAME flavor its so subtle and nutty and pairs really well with thier house-made green tea”
“so like no wine list which seems like a big miss for a place THATS trying to make ramen feel more upscale you know”
“the vegetarian ramen options are surprisingly good like the mushroom broth actually has incredible depth and the marinated bamboo shoots are perfect texture wise”
“so like limited vegan dumpling options compared to all the meat ones which is kinda disappointing for a modern ramen spot like this jsut saying”
“so for $16 you get this massive tonkotsu ramen bowl with like really generous chashu slices and a soft boiled egg. honestly the portion justifies the price, plus the pork broth tastes like it's been going for hours”
“so like but teh add-ons are kinda pricey - $3 for extra egg $4 for more pork. adds up SO fast if you wanna actually customize beyond the base bowl no joke”
“they got a decent beer selection to go with the ramen adn the spicy miso bowl has enough heat to make you want that cold asahi for real. tbh the pork belly was tender and had goood char on the edges idk”
“no draft beer tho just bottles and cans which sucks. honestly for a ramen spot id really want some japanese draft options to actually complete teh whole experience haha”
