THE LEAD VERDICT
“those roasted carrots were incredible - perfectly tender with a honey thyme glaze that enhanced the natural sweetness instead of masking it. seriously tasted farm fresh”
“so like teh DUCK breast for $32 was pretty small portions. at that price i expected more on the plate honestly especially when theres only three small sides”
ALSO FILED
“the venison tartare is really well balanced - you get that clean gamey flavor but the acid and herbs brighten it up without like masking what the meat actually tastes like soo good”
“the dinner rolls were stale and obviously from yesterday which is jsut careless for a place like this”
“finally found a place that doesnt hold back on heat their house hot sauce has this complex burn with smoky undertones and like a hint of fruit. paired perfectly with the wild boar brought the fire without overwhelming the meat”
“honestly the pickled vegetables were barely acidic - just sad limp veggies in weak brine basically. good pickles should have bite and brightness to cut through all that rich meat”
“the duck confit hash for brunch was absolutely INSANE - crispy potatoes, runny egg, that duck just falls apart when you touch it with your fork, adn theres like some magical hollandaise situation going on”
“literally teh coffee tasted weirdly bitter like it had been sitting in the pot way too long which is a shame for a brunch place”
“bartender reccomended their rye whiskey cocktail with maple and it was genius smoky sweet totally canadian without being cheesy about it. perfect while we waited for our table”
“seating is cramped as hell my knees were basically hitting the table next to us. felt like i was listening to three different conversations at once goood for dates but not relaxing at all”
“so like teh rabbit ragu looked stunning when it came out - this deep burgundy sauce pooled around the handmade pappardelle with little microgreens scattered everywhere like tiny emeralds, honestly looked like art”
“teh tables in here are crammed way too close together so you cant even get a decent photo without other peoples elbows photobombing you ha”
“the venison tartare for $18 was a steal - generous hadn chopped meat perfect seasoning and house made crackers!!! not even kidding this would be like $30 at other toronto places easy cant complain”
“seriously wine markups are steep honestly. teh bottle we wanted was $78 here when i know it costs like $22 normally and also cocktails are fine but teh wine list just feels inflated would go back”
“tbh they actually went out of thier way for my gluten free thing - the server knew exactly what was safe and even checked in the kitchen about cross contamination and honestly the GF bread wasnt even that bad like not cardboard”
“so like teh wild boar tasted great but teh portion of vegetables wiht it was tiny so i left still kinda hungry especially for what they were charging chefs kiss”
