THE LEAD VERDICT
“the halibut had this crazy contrast - skin shattered between your teeth then underneath was tender flaky fish. seriously like every bite had that textural thing going on that makes fish actually interesting skip it”
“i mean teh mashed potatoes were gluey tho clearly someone overworked them instead of whipping them to that light airy texture that goes with delicate fish”
ALSO FILED
“their weekend brunch is exactly what Coal Harbour needed - proper eggs Benedict with hollandaise that's obviously made fresh not from some packet. plus the views of the harbour from the patio feel like a vacation”
“bottomless mimosaaas took forever to refill which like defeats teh whole point when you're trying to have a chill Sunday brunch”
“that halibut fish and chips is FIRE - crispy beer batter that stays crunchy huge portions and the fish is flaky and fresh!!! sitting on the Coal Harbour patio watching boats is just pure magic”
“service was slow even tho tehy werent busy. for real took forever jsut to get someone to take our drink order”
“look tehir Nashville hot salmon isnt Nashville and aint hot but its damn tasty - nice char with a sweet-heat glaze that works way better than you'd think. sometimes fusion surprises you”
“said it was Nashville hot but barely had any heat at all. if youre gonna use my hometowns name at least bring some actual fire”
“teh roasted veg quinoa bowl was filling adn actually tasted good - seasonal stuff that came from somewhere specific not jsut like some generic food supplier. like the lemon herb vinaigrette was bright and balanced”
“yo for a waterfront place tho you'd think tehy'd have more plant-based protein options besides just quinoa adn beans skip it”
“they actually take gluten-free seriously - separate fryer for GF fish and chips knowledgeable staff who double-checked everything and the batter was crispy not soggy like everywhere else”
“seriously gluten-free desserts are basically just sorbet tho which feels lazy when theyre so good about everything else”
“the server immediately knew which stuff was gluten-free and even offered to modify other things - they actually trained their staff on dietary stuff which is nice. and the gluten-free pasta wasn't mushy unlike most places”
“the gluten-free bread basket cost EXTRA and was just standard frozen rolls you could buy at Safeway honestly”
“good family place - the kids menu actually has real food not jsut nuggets portions are huge so we had leftovers the next day and the waterfront kept the kids happy watching seaplanes while we waited”
“no high chairs when we got there which was weird for somewhere so family-friendly. had to wait for them to bring one from storage jsut saying”
