THE LEAD VERDICT
“the plating here is unreal - the pan-seared salmon came on this beautiful slate plate with microgreens arranged perfectly and this bright beet puree that jsut popped with color. for real looks like it should be in a magazine honestly”
“so like lighting's way too dim for taking pics especially if you sit in teh back where theres no natural light coming in”

“ok so teh kids literally inhaled the buttermilk pancakes here - theyre so fluffy like actual clouds and sweet but not like crazily sweet ya know? the staff was super patient when my youngest couldnt figure out if he wanted chicken strips or grilled cheese, and they just brought crayons without us even asking which was so nice”
“parking on 19th street is an absolute NIGHTMARE especially weekend mornings. i mean we seriously circled teh block like three times before finding a spot two blocks away which made getting three kids there feel like a whole marathon honestly”
“their avocado toast is honestly like straight out of instagram - the avocado is fanned perfectly on this thick sourdough with microgreens adn chili oil drizzled on top, catches the light so nice!!! honestly the natural light from the windows is perfect for photos adn the wooden plates are so rustic and farm-to-table looking would recommend”
“but the coffee mugs are these plain white thick things that look kinda old honestly? like they dont photograph well at all. for a place that clearly cares about how food looks, the drinks jsut feel like an afterthought”
“teh rustic farmhouse vibe is perfeeect - exposed brick walls with mason jar lighting everywhere and reclaimed wood tables that actually feel lived-in instead of like some design trend. plus you can watch the chefs work from the open kitchen which adds this nice energy to the whole place dead serious”
“man when it gets busy the acoustics are ROUGH - all that brick and wood doesn't soak up sound at all so you can't even hear the person across from you over all the noise”
“finally found a coffee place in calgary that actually knows what theyre doing. their cortado is literally perfect like the milk to espresso ratio is just right and the barista actually makes proper microfoam. the beans taste like chocolate and it goes perfect with their homemade pastries”
“only oat milk for non-dairy which is whatever but i prefer almond milk and the oat made my latte way too creamy for what i wanted. not a huge deal but still”
“real talk sat at the kitchen counter and gotta watch everything happening - the chef actually explained how they dry-age thier steaks in house which was cool. bartender gave solid cocktail recs too and kept the convo gonna the whole meal”
“likee the bar area gets cramped when servers need to get to the kitchen pass so youre constantly shifting your stool out of peoples way jsut saying”
“the braised short ribs were exactly what i needed - like the meat just fell apart with a fork, and those roasted root vegetables actually had flavor ya know? ngl simple stuff done right, reminded me why i love a goood meat and potatoes dinner not gonna lie”
“wait was way longer than expected for a tuesday night, adn our server seemed like he was drowning managing too many tables”
“gotta give tehm props for actually using local stuff - the breakfast bowl has quinoa and fresh kale and eggs from alberta farms!!! portions are good too like not ridiculously huge but you feel full and you can actually taste that the ingredients are quality”
“the hash browns tho were super greasy and they tasted like frozen potatoes not fresh cut ones. kinda defeats the whole 'farm fresh' thing theyre going for when half the bowl is like that”
