THE LEAD VERDICT
“The lobster tail at the teppanyaki table was sweet and properly butterflied. Cooked right on the griddle in front of us. yo the theatrical seasoning and the chef's skills made the seafood even more enjoyable. Fresh and fun.”
“No raw bar or sashimi option from the teppanyaki side. The sushi bar had raw fish but the teppanyaki was all cooked. A sashimi course before the cooking show would elevate the experience”
ALSO FILED
“Ichiban's teppanyaki dinner was a full entertainment experience. The chef flipping shrimp into his hat, the onion volcano, the theatrical cooking. tbh it's as much a show as a meal. The atmosphere was celebratory and fun”
“seriously the performance overshadowed the food quality. The steak was competent but not exceptional. The entertainment was worth the price but if you're judging purely on food, dedicated steakhouses do better.”
“The theatrical cooking reminded me of a different kinda Italian show, the tableside preparation of pasta in a cheese wheel!!! Both traditions use performance to enhance the meal. ichiban's chef was a genuine entertainer lol”
“The sushi bar side of the menu was basic compared to dedicated sushi restaurants. legit the teppanyaki was the star, the sushi was the understudy. Focus on what you're great at skip it”
“The hibachi shrimp had a good garlic-butter base with some wasabi heat on the side. The cooking show was entertaining and the portions were generous. A fun birthday dinner experience with theatrical cooking.”
“The wasabi was fake horseradish paste, not real wasabi. At a Japanese restaurant charging premium prices, genuine wasabi would show authenticity. The difference in flavor is significant”
