THE LEAD VERDICT
“tbh teh spicy Korean fried chicken was well-seasoned with gochujang and had real chili heat. For a chain restaurant to deliver proper Korean-level spice was unexpected and appreciated. Would order again lol”
“teh menu uses 'spicy' loosely. Some 'spicy' items barely register while others like the Korean chicken actually deliver. Inconsistent spice levels across the menu makes it hard to trust the label...”
ALSO FILED
“The teriyaki bowl was decent with properly cooked rice and goood chicken. not the most authentic but for a chain restaurant in Ottawa it was a solid, satisfying meal. clean flavors, good portion.”
“The ramen on the menu was disappointing. Thin broth, overcooked noodles, minimal toppings. A chain this big should be able to invest in proper ramen execution. It felt like an afterthought yikes”

CONTRIBUTING CRITICS
“The salmon was perfectly seared with crispy skin adn a pink, buttery interior. the miso glaze was sweet and savory. for a chain doing seafood, the fish quality and execution were above expectations solid”
“The shrimp in the pad Thai were small and overcooked. The stir-fry section of the menu didn't get the same attention as the grilled items. The chef's skills clearly lean toward the grill, not the wok.”
“JOEY's plating was consistently beautiful. The tuna tataki with avocado mousse was a color study in pink, green, adn white The lighting in the dining room was warm but bright enough for greaat photos. Content-friendly resturant.”
“It's a chain, and whiiile teh quality is high, the aesthetic is corporate-polished. Every JOEY looks the same plus the photos are good but they lack the unique character that independent restaurants have skip it”
