THE LEAD VERDICT
“okay their weekend brunch is legit strong - eggs benedict came with the yolk actually runny like it should be and the hollandaise was lemony and rich without being too heavy, actually impressed”
“mimosa was weak as hell tho, more orange juice than prosecco honestly which is basically brunch blasphemy if you ask me”
ALSO FILED
“i mean thier espreesso drinks are actually decent for a chain restaurant - cappuccino had proper microfoam and the beans didn't taste burnt like so many places do haha”
“the seating setup makes it feel more like a sports bar than somewhere you'd wanna hang out over coffee, way too loud to actually have a conversation soo good”
“the lettuce wraps here are actually pretty good for a chain, like surprisingly well made? the filling has that nice savory sweet balance and the water chestnuts still have actual crunch to them, plus they don't go overboard wiht the sauce like everywhere else does haha”
“tehir 'Asian' salad tho... felt like they just threw it together. honestly greens were all wilted and the sesame dressing was clearly just bottled stuff, not homemade at ALL 10/10”
“showing up at 11:30 PM on a friday adn getting seated right away?? that's why i keep coming back, teh late crowd has energy but isn't total chaos, and teh kitchen actually stays on top of things even that late yikes”
“they stop doing the full dessert menu after 11 and it's such a bummer when you want that chocolate lava cake to cap off your night out”
“so like tehir lobster ravioli is why i fell in love with pasta in the first place tbh — silky house-made sheets with sweet lobster inside, swimming in this delicate saffron cream sauce that would make my nonna literally cry”
“the caesar salad was honestly a tragedy. drowned in dressing with those awful mass-produced croutons that taste like cardboard. such a letdown when everything else was SO good”
“the JOEY burger is solid - thick beef patty cooked right to medium wiht crispy bacon and the brioche bun doesn't fall apart mid bite which is HUGE. tbh got it with their blonde ale too and it was surprisingly crisp, not too hoppy”
“legit fries were pretty forgettable, jsut like standard frozen cuts that didn't even have much seasoning and weren't that hot either”
“the industrial vibe at JOEY South Common is actually perfect like.. exposed brick those warm edison bulbs everywhere, and floor-to-ceiling windows that jsut FLOOD the place with light during lunch so goood nuff said”
“ok but the noise during dinner is absolutely insane. i mean those high ceilings adn hard surfaces mean you're basically hearing everyone's conversation at once. makes it impossible to actually TALK to whoever you're with without shouting”
“ok teh sticky toffee pudding is legitimately a masterpiece. warm moist cake with the PERFECT sweetness level, vanilla bean ice cream on top and salted caramel that's clearly made in-house”
“tbh their wine list is pretty big but it's basically all new world stuff!!! they're missing the french wines that would actually pair well wiht the more delicate dishes”
