THE LEAD VERDICT
“gonna be real came in skeptical about fancy italian but thier chicken parmigiana totally won me over - crispy breaded cutlet w tangy marinara & properly melted mozz, comfort food but elevated”
“ok so caesar salad was way too heavy on anchovies for me - i know its traditional but was pretty overpowering for someone still getting used to bold flavors”
ALSO FILED
“thier seafood linguine was outstanding - perfectly al dente pasta w fresh mussels clams & shrimp in light white wine sauce that didn't overpower the delicate seafood flavors at all”
“bread service was stale tho - clearly day-old focaccia that shoulda been refreshed in teh oven ha”
“finally found a calgary restaurant that gets HEAT - thier spicy arrabbiata had legit kick w crushed red chilies & fresh jalapeños that built slowly & left a pleasant burn ok but spice complemented teh tomato base instead of destroying it”
“not even kidding garlic bread was disappointingly mild tho - barely any garlic flavor & def needed more seasoning to match teh bold pasta smh”
“the grilled branzino was pristine - clear eyes firm flesh and that unmistakable ocean sweetness that only comes from truly fresh fish. ok so the simple preparation wiht lemon and herbs let the quality speak for itself and the fish flaked perfectly off the bone”
“the calamari rings were unfortunately rubbery suggesting they'd been sitting under heat lamps too long or overcooked initially. for a mediterranean restaurant seafood preparation should be thier strongest suit”
“the lamb tagine had layers of texture that kept revealing themselves - tender meat that pulled apart effortlessly vegetables that maintained their bite and couscous with individual grains that didn't clump together. each spoonful delivered different temperature contrasts”
“the hummus appetizer was disappointingly grainy and served at an odd lukewarm temperature that robbed it of the smooth creamy mouthfeel that makes great hummus so addictive”
“the space feels like a hidden gem tucked away in that shopping complex - warm lighting exposed brick accents adn windows that flood the dining room with natural light during the day. the open kitchen adds energy without overwhelming conversation”
“legit the location in the strip mall doesnt do justice to what the restaurant actually is - you'd easily drive past without noticing this place exists. the exterior signage could use some serious upgrading lol”
“ok so teh texture contrast in their mushroom risotto was sublime - creamy arborio w firm chanterelles & oyster mushrooms finished w crispy pancetta that added salty crunch against silky backdrop”
“look temperature was inconsistent tho - some bites piping hot otehrs lukewarm which suggests it sat under heat lamps too long big time”
“i mean thier mediterranean lamb burger was a revelation - juicy patty with feta and tzatziki that actually complemented rather than overwhelmed the meat. the fries were crispy and well-seasoned and the local craft beer selection paired perfectly”
“they were out of their featured beer when i visited and the server didn't offer alternatives until i specifically asked. for a place that clearly puts thought into their beverage program the service knowledge seemed lacking”
